Buyer/Material Handler - Scrap Metal

Position
Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating the buying of non-ferrous metals from the public, properly classifying/identifying material into the appropriate commodity. If applicable, scan identification into SAI as well as properly identify valid metal recycling permit. Ensure compliance with applicable state law and company policy. In addition, this role operates material handling equipment responsible for compressing and/or downsizing material.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers in purchasing non-ferrous metal
Operate material handling equipment typically for ferrrous metals
Receive and validate proper identification and permit
Upgrade material when possible
Compress and/or downsize material for processing
Complete and maintain pre-trip inspection documentation

Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent
Crane Operator certification or the ability to be certified as a crane operator
Good working knowledge of material handling equipment such as crane, fork lift, skid steer, front end loader
Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
Good verbal and written communication skills
A clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations
Must be a team player, dedicated to the organization, and self-motivated
A valid driver's license with favorable motor vehicle report

Physical Demands:
Will require the ability to constantly stand
Will require the ability to frequently walk, bend, kneel, handle, and drive
Will require the occasional ability to push/pull/lift/carry items up to 50 pounds
Will require the occasional ability to climbEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
